The Oklahoma Self Defense Act Handgun application can be completed here. If you live in any other county, you must go to that Sheriff's Office and complete your application. Contact them directly for their service hours and locations. You must have the following things with you to complete your application:

  1. A Government issued photo ID
  2. Your original training certificate
  3. Two passport sized photographs
  4. Your completed application
  5. $25 fee to the Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office, payable by exact cash, money order, or cashier's check. We do not take credit cards for this portion of your payment, and this fee includes your fingerprinting and local background check.
  6. $100 or $200 fee to OSBI, based on whether you are applying for a 5-year or 10-year license, money order, or cashier's check. The OSBI will not accept cash for this portion of your payment.

At Francis Tuttle Substation, we complete these applications Monday through Friday from 0800-1630 hours. We encourage citizens to arrive at least an hour and a half before the posted closing time to ensure enough time to complete the process.  If there are any questions in regards to the Self Defense Act and/or the processing of the Self Defense Act please feel free to contact the Sheriff's Office at 405.869.2567.

Fingerprint cards outside the SDA process are $5 each, and payment is by exact cash, cashier's check or money order. You will nee a government-issued ID.

The Francis Tuttle Substation is located at 12777 N. Rockwell on the northwest corner of Francis Tuttle's campus, in the Northwest Hall
